LAA Reimbusrable Grant Program

The Tau Beta Sigma Alumni Association is proud to offer our reimbursable LAA Grant Program. The program offers reimbursable financial support for our Local Alumni Associations (LAAs) who wish to continue serving Tau Beta Sigma, band programs and/or their community. The reimbursable LAA Grant Program is designed to enhance the experience of our LAAs and expand their ability to provide impactful service. The maximum amount of this grant is $250, and it is primarily designed to supplement projects that are already planned or established.

Applications may be submitted at any time by LAAs of the Tau Beta Sigma Alumni Association. TBSAA will hold two priority deadlines each year of January 1 and July 1 and events must occur within 90 days of the grant being awarded. Grant Information

The goal of the program is to assist Local Alumni Associations with undertaking projects that will have a positive impact on Alumni Members, Band Programs, Communities or the Sorority. The TBSAA will award grants of up to $250*. TBSAA will hold two priority deadlines each year of January 1 and July 1.

*Grant amounts will be determined based on qualified applicants and subject to availability.

*Events must happen within 90 days of the grant being awarded. 

Submission Requirements

  • Applicants must be members of a Local Alumni Association (LAA) that has been approved by the TBSAA Executive Council
  • Letter of Approval from LAA President/Chair
  • Description of project
    • Two pages, maximum
    • Description must include how the project aligns with the missions of Tau Beta Sigma and the TBSAA, and impacts the community or the Sorority
    • Include relevant information about when the project will take place.
  • Proposed Project Budget
  • Supporting information or materials describing or related to the service project

Financial Commitment

TBSAA will issue funds as a reimbursement in a lump sum payment upon completion of the work as proposed. Events must occur within 90 days of the grant being awarded. Applicants are not required to provide a certain level of matching, but are encouraged to do so to show your commitment to the success of your application. A summary of the project will be required for proof of event completion and disbursement of funds.

Past Recipients

July 2024

Iota Pi AA hosted Band Splash which impacts the community by providing middle and high school students with the opportunity to experience life as a member of the Orange Crush Band Program at Lincoln University of Pennsylvania. This event allows students to make connections with college students and alumni, while enhancing their skills.

July 2024

The SUTBSAA hosted a Thanksgiving dinner for the students that do not have the opportunity to go home during the holiday due to a performance at the Bayou Classic. This gives the students a sense of family, connection and love during the holiday and shows unity between all entities.

January 2024

The MWDAA used the grant to commission a grade 2-3 piece by Katherine Bergman, impacting secondary schools in their district. This initiative recognized the vital role of middle and high school bands in shaping the future of college bands.

January 2023

Greater OKC TBSAA’s  project, Stuff the Bus, provided 250 snack bags as a donation for the Langston Marching Pride Marching Band as the band had been accepted in the 2023 Honda Battle of The Bands. This was a great accomplishment that was able to be celebrated between students and alumni.
